California Governor Gavin Newsom reported this Saturday that it has increased the number of California National Guard troops in the Los Angeles area to deal with the fires, which have caused the death of eleven people and so far there are thirteen missing.
In a statement, Newsom indicated that the number of members of the California National Guard, also known as CalGuard, deployed to assist rescue teams in Los Angeles has risen to 1,680. These join the thousands of security forces sent to the areas affected by the fires.
The Government of California has deployed more than 12,000 people, including firefighters, police and agents from various security agencies, to join the fight against the fires that began on Tuesday, asas well as to carry out security and monitoring tasks in the affected areas.
The deployment includes more than 1,600 firefighting devices, including a hundred tanker trucks and about 60 airplanes, according to the note.
The fires have so far consumed more than 14,000 hectares and have forced the evacuation of more than 153,000 people, according to local authorities.
So far, firefighters have managed to completely contain the Lidia fire, while Kenneth is 80% contained, Hurst is 76% contained, Eaton is 15% and Palisades is 11% contained.
