Tragedy continues to plague Los Angeles, where the number of fatalities due to the fires that devastate the city has climbed to 11the county’s Forensic Department announced yesterday.
According to the record, Five deaths correspond to the Palisades fire, which has already devastated more than 8,626 hectares and has a containment of just 8%.which makes it already considered one of the most devastating natural disasters in the history of the county.
The rest of the deaths are related to the Eaton fireclose to the city of Pasadena, another of the most destructive outbreaks that has left 5,550 hectares in ashes and that until yesterday, firefighters have only managed to contain 3 percent.
The authorities warn that they will not be able to give a definitive number of fatalities from these accidents until investigators can safely access the neighborhoods.
The wind conditions that have generated the rapid proliferation of these fires have decreased, according to authorities, but red flag warnings will remain in place until yesterday afternoon. These winds known as Santa Ana are expected to return on Monday.
Additionally, AccuWeather, a private company that provides data on the weather and its impact, increased its estimate of damages and economic losses to between $135 billion and $150 billion.
