Donald Trump went even further, Thursday evening, with his idea of wanting to integrate Canada into the 50 American states by affirming that Canadian resources were of no use to him, during a meeting with Republican governors at his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

“We don’t need Canada,” he said directly. “We don’t need Canada for wood because we have big forests that we haven’t, you know, exploited.”
“In some cases they are protected, but I can lift that protection. And you cut down a tree, and you grow a better one,” he added during this rally broadcast by Fox News.
Besides wood, energy and Canadian oil are not needed by the Americans, according to him.
“We don’t need anything they have,” he insisted, surrounded by Republicans.

He also returned to this conversion that he had with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when the latter went to Florida to discuss the threats of customs tariffs envisaged by the next American president.
“And I said to Trudeau, ‘Why are we subsidizing you to the tune of $200 billion or $250 billion a year?’ He replied, “I really don’t know.” And I said, “Well, me neither.” I added: “What would happen to Canada if we didn’t do this?” He replied: “Canada would be destroyed if that happened.” I said, “Then Canada should be 51e State,” he repeated.
Remember that the next tenant of the White House affirmed on Tuesday that he would be ready to use “economic force” to force Canada to join the United States.
