Two tourists were caught descending from the Kukulkan Castle in the archaeological zone of Chichen Itzá, Yucatán, which has caused outrage on social networks.
In a video shared on TikTok by user Ericka Lupita, Tourists are shown descending the steps of the structure with their companion filming from belowwhile the other visitors shout at them for their attitude.
Climbing these pre-Hispanic structures is strictly prohibited, because this can damage monuments or alter the conditions in which they are located. In addition, it can represent a danger for people who decide to climb due to the state of the structures.

It is important to respect the regulations of all archaeological sites, as this can benefit heritage conservation and ensuring a safe experience and respectful for all visitors who seek to know the place.
The incident occurred last Sunday, January 5, but until today the event went viral, which ended with the arrest of the young people by the security of the archaeological zonesince it is illegal to climb this pre-Hispanic structure.
What happens if I climb the Kukulcán Pyramid in Chichen Itzá?
It should be noted that article 55 of the Federal Law on Monuments and Archaeological, Artistic and Historical Zones of Mexicopoints out that this action can lead to fines of 5 to 50 thousand pesos and even temporary detention.
