Following changes to its privacy policy, Telegram will now share user data with law enforcement in cases of other crimes, including cybercrime, sale of illegal goods, and online fraud.
“If Telegram receives a lawful order from a relevant judicial authority confirming that you are a suspect in a case involving criminal activity that violates Telegram’s Terms of Service, we will conduct a legal analysis of the request and may disclose your IP address and telephone number to the relevant authorities ,” reads Telegram’s privacy policy update.
These changes came in response to pressure from authorities, culminating in the arrest of Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov in late August in France.
