Federal Government begins disarmament program; This is what they will pay for each gun

The Government of Mexico published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) the details of the disarmament program “Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace”, which has the objective of reducing the number of weapons in the hands of civilians in exchange for an economic stimulus, in order to reduce accidental deaths, homicides, femicides, as well as any other crime or expression of violence in general.

The operation will be carried out by the Secretariats of Security and Citizen Protection and National Defense, who will coordinate for the programming of the Action with the City Councils and Mayor’s Offices of the national territory, as well as to carry out community awareness and sensitization talks on the risks of the possession and manipulation of firearms, as well as brigades to transmit the message of peace, disarmament and non-violence to the population.

Due to the above, the Federal Government invited the general population to participate in the exchange of any type of weapons in their possession for an economic stimulus, in accordance with the “Weapons, ammunition and explosives tabulator”.

The payment for each weapon will depend on the rank, group, type of weapon, caliber and whether it is still usable or not, For example; ghost weapons of all calibers, an economic stimulus will be given for the useful ones of 1,045 pesos and for those that are not usable, with these same characteristics, it will be 260 pesos.
