We can’t get enough of Mexican series on Netflix. The streaming service will soon have a title richer Cell 211 (2025). In the drama series, based on a true prison uprising, a lawyer is forced to pose as a prisoner. The first trailer can now be seen.
Bloody riot
Things go wrong from December 31, 2022 to January 1, 2023 in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juárez. A gang storms the prison and this results in a major riot. Many people died during this uprising.
Stuck behind bars
Netflix kicks in Cell 211 (not to be confused with the movie Cell 211 (2009)) made off with the bizarre story. The drama series follows a human rights lawyer who is locked up in prison during the bloody uprising. To avoid being murdered, he poses as a fellow prisoner. Behind bars, the lawyer does everything he can to survive, even if it turns him into a criminal.
Babylon-actor
The role of the human rights lawyer is played by Diego Calva. He previously played major roles in Bird Box Barcelona (2023), Babylon (2022) and most recently the series The Secret of the River (2024). The cast is completed by Ernesto Meléndez and Noé Hernández.
When can it be seen?
Netflix not only shares the long-awaited trailer of Cell 211but also the release date. The Mexican drama series about the prison uprising is from February 5 to binge on the streaming service.
