Within the work landscape in Mexico, weekly long weekends are some of the most anticipated breaks for Mexicans, as they provide a brief respite from the busy routine of the city.
The Federal Labor Law (LFT)establishes several days of mandatory rest throughout the 365 days of the year; Many of these bridges are crossed on Mondays—whichever is closer—to create the so-called “megabridges”: extended rest periods that combine holidays with weekends.
Those who returned to school and work activities since January 2nd will not have to wait too long for the next long weekend since it will occur in February.

Article 74 of the LFT establishes nine days of mandatory rest, including iconic dates such as February 5 (Anniversary of the Constitution)March 21 (Birthday of Benito Juárez) and November 20 (Mexican Revolution). Of these dates, three are part of the megabridges.
In 2025, the first megabridge will be on Monday, February 3, when the commemoration of the February 5. Such a period will provide an ideal opportunity for students and workers to recharge, enjoy recreational activities or spend time with loved ones.
