The wildfires in Los Angeles are a big deal for Hollywood. Many film and series recordings have been temporarily postponed, many well-known stars have been evacuated, the Oscar nominations will be announced at a later date and premieres have been canceled.
Danger in LA
Due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, many filmings in Hollywood have been postponed. Not because the studios are located in the fire area, but mainly because the air quality is dangerous to health. FilmLA, the party that issues permits for recording locations, has decided not to allow recordings due to the state of emergency.
Which recordings have been postponed?
Universal previously indicated the recordings of, among others Loot (2022– ), Hacks (2021– ) in Suits: L.A. (2025) to postpone. Amazon also previously decided to wait with the recording of the second season of Fallout (2024– ). In addition, Disney is also waiting with the recordings of, among others Doctor Odyssey (2024– ) in Grey’s Anatomy (2005– ).
Consequences of the forest fires
In addition, many famous stars have also been evacuated from their homes. Actor Billy Crystal and Paris Hilton lost their home to the wildfires. The wildfires are causing more postponements at events, such as the Critics Choice Awards ceremony. Also the premiere of Netflix film Back in Action (2025) (Cameron Diaz’s comeback) in New York has been canceled.
Oscars
The LA forest fire also has consequences for the Oscars. The nominations for the film awards will be announced at a later date. The lists were initially supposed to be released on January 17, but this will now take place on January 19. Academy boss Bill Kramer said this.
