According to Agus, the construction of the AirTag factory will not affect the issuance of TKDN certificates for the iPhone 16. This means that the iPhone 16 still cannot be sold in Indonesia.
“The AirTag that Apple will produce through ICT is not a direct part, not a direct component, not a direct part from Apple’s HKT,” said Agus Gumiwang.
“So if we look at the regulations, it is not possible or not allowed, or not possible. There is no basis for the Ministry of Industry to issue TKDN certification in order for Apple to have a distribution permit in Indonesia because there is no direct connection,” he said.
Agus also said further that if Apple’s investment was realized by building an AirTag factory, the TKDN certificate given by the Ministry of Industry would only be for that tracking product.
As of last Wednesday afternoon, January 8 2025, Apple did not have the basis to issue TKDN certification for Apple products, especially the iPhone 16.
