The body of a man was discovered in a stream on Wednesday by walkers at Clos Gaillard in Nîmes. He was partially naked. His underwear covered his head, according to France 3. The flagrant investigation was opened on the grounds of intentional homicide and entrusted to the judicial police services of the interdepartmental direction of the national police of Gard and Hérault.
“The first investigations make it possible to establish a death of criminal origin following assault,” specifies the public prosecutor, Cécile Gensac. He was allegedly violently stabbed several times and his skull bore marks of violent injuries.
The victim has been identified
Investigators now know the identity of the victim. “Aged around thirty years old, she is not from Gard and is little known to the police,” specifies the prosecution. The investigations must determine the circumstances of the attack and the causes of its presence on Gard territory. The autopsy was to be performed this Thursday.
A vast wooded area located to the north of the Gard prefecture, Clos Gaillard is a popular place for hiking and walking, popular with the people of Nîmes.
