The new shark film was released last summer Something in the Water (2024) at the cinema. Now Netflix has acquired the rights. The streaming service has announced that it will add the exciting film to its offering next month.
Intense boat trip
Five friends are staying on a Caribbean island for the wedding of one of them. Before the big day they first take a boat trip together, but they should not have done that… One of them is bitten badly and as if that wasn’t enough, their boat capsizes and starts to sink. It becomes a battle for life and death when they are at the mercy of a bunch of bloodthirsty sharks.
Women at the top
The shark film is directed by Hayley Easton Street, who makes the transition from VFX artist (computer-animated images) to director. And not only is the director a woman, the entire production team consists only of women and the cast is also made up of women: Hiftu Quasem, Lauren Lyle, Natalie Mitson, Nicole Rieko Setsuko and Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart.
