The Toy Story franchise can without a doubt be called one of the most successful animations of recent decades. The original film now has three sequels and a fourth is on its way. Toy Story 5 (2026) is scheduled for release in 2026. Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear for years, provides an update on the production.
Already recorded
Allen is unsure about what he can and cannot say about it Toy Story 5especially when he is asked if he has already been to the recording studio, but then he goes for it anyway:
I did my first five-hour session for Buzz a week ago. It’s really, really strange to dive back into the character. I can’t tell you anything else.
Buzz Lightyear takes center stage
The next film focuses on Buzz Lightyear, so it’s no surprise that Allen is ecstatic about this sequel. He calls it an incredibly clever story and emphasizes that he believes the studio is really not in it for money.
I’m very happy to be Buzz Lightyear if I’m honest. It’s going to be fun. I think we still have a year left. I’ve made it to the third act, to optimize it we’ll do it again and then I’ll do it about five more times. It’s a really good story guys, really good
Toy Story 5 runs in the Netherlands from 18 June 2026 at the cinema.
