The images filmed this Sunday are impressive. They first show a massive wave off Jaws Beach in Hawaii (United States) then Ty Simpson-Kane which it carries away. The 20-year-old Hawaiian surfer escaped with minor injuries, explains the Huffington Post.
The incident took place this Sunday in the middle of the afternoon on the iconic beach in the north of the island of Peahi. In the images widely distributed on social networks, we see Ty Simpson-Kane taking an impressive wave. The 20-year-old sportsman looks like an insect but appears to be sliding until he falls off his board and hits the surface several times before disappearing under the foam.
A trained surfer
“It’s almost like you’re going 80 mph in your car on the highway and you hit a brick wall… And all of a sudden you decide to do a series of rolls,” the surfer described to Hawaii News Now news site.
In a bad position, he activated his inflatable vest and was able to return to the surface. Ty Simpson-Kane is trained for such situations by regularly performing apnea sessions. He is a regular at this beach and knows its waves well, which he has been practicing since the age of 13.
Some pain
The Hawaiian said he only felt “whiplash” and slight pain in his lower back. The video of this fall quickly went viral on social networks with tens of thousands of views.
When you fall from a bike, or from a horse, it is advisable to get back on. Ty Simpson-Kane did the same. After the incident, he got back on his board to face the waves again.
