This Thursday, Rion-des-Landes paid a final tribute to Maïté, who died on Saturday at the age of 86. Her funeral took place this morning in this town in Landes, where the famous cook and entertainer, whose real name was Marie-Thérèse Ordonez, lived, reports Southwest.
According to the newspaper, more than 300 people came to say goodbye to Maïté, or more precisely to say “adishatz”, “goodbye”, in Gascon.
“She brought a ray of sunshine to our region”
“Eat, drink in her honor,” paid tribute to one of Maïté’s granddaughters, explains the France Bleu website. “She cooked to cheer us up,” she also confided.
As France 3 specifies, residents of Rion-des-Landes also present for these farewells. “It was our brand image for us little Landers who were a little lost in France. She brought a ray of sunshine to our region, it was fantastic,” said one of them. Several guest books were also placed in the heart of the Saint-Barthélemy church where the ceremony took place.
