Telegram founder, Pavel Durov, said that his company was starting to make a profit. Durov said that the Telegram chat application will record total revenue of more than USD 1 billion in 2024.
Quoting Tech CrunchTuesday (24/12/2024), Telegram is known to launch its premium subscription service in 2022. Now, Telegram is recorded as having 12 million paid subscribers.
Durov also said that the Telegram application finished 2024 with USD 500 million in cash reserves, without counting its crypto assets.
The CEO of Telegram also said that the company had paid off a large amount of its debt obligations this fall.
“Over the past four years, Telegram has issued around USD 2 billion in debt. We paid off most of that debt this fall, taking advantage of Telegram’s favorable bond prices. However, there is still a lot of work to be done,” Durov said in the post on X aka Twitter.
In an interview with the Financial Times earlier this year, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said that the company would reach profitability in 2025. Furthermore, Telegram has plans to go public in the future.
