Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly penetrating various industrial sectors, and is even predicted to surpass the impact of cloud and internet technology.
This was stated by Cisco Indonesia Managing Director Marina Kacaribu, who highlighted the significant transformation in the business landscape over the past year.
“In the past year, the business landscape has transformed significantly, forcing companies to review their operational models,” said Marina.
One of the main drivers of this transformation is the presence of Generative AI which has dominated the business world.
“Generative AI influences various aspects, starting from strategy updates, financial reports, to almost all forms of communication from company officials,” said Marina, quoted Tuesday (23/12/2024).
This massive scale impact, according to him, places AI in a very important position, potentially even surpassing the cloud and the internet as a very disruptive technology.
Furthermore, Marina explained that the huge impact of AI is influencing the way various businesses deal with crucial issues, such as the current skills gap, as well as the sustainability and security issues they face.
Below are six main trends that will determine Indonesia’s business landscape in 2025, from AI to cybersecurity.
1. AI Continues to Be the Center of Attention, But…
AI has been a dominant theme in the business world for more than a year. The pressure for AI adoption continues and nearly all companies in the 2024 Cisco AI Readiness Index report that the urgency to implement AI solutions has continued to increase over the past year.
As companies begin to adopt AI, many of them realize that utilizing AI is not as easy as they imagined.
Only 19% of companies in Indonesia are ready to fully optimize the potential of AI, when they clearly understand what is needed for successful AI implementation.
Even though AI is a prioritized investment, many companies say that the results of these investments do not meet their expectations.
The main challenge remains infrastructure readiness, where there are gaps in computing, data center network performance and cyber security.
Only 34% of companies have the GPUs needed to meet current and future AI needs, and only about half (49%) have the ability to protect the data in AI models with end-to-end encryption, security audits, continuous monitoring, and rapid response to threats.
