Freight train derails in Zapotiltic

Ayer, A freight train covering the Guadalajara-Manzanillo route derailed in the municipality of Zapotiltic, Jaliscospecifically at a point known as Via del Cerrito. The incident occurred when the rails detached from their place, causing several cars to overturn and fall down a slope adjacent to the tracks.

Although the accident caused significant material damage, no injuries were reported. However, the magnitude of the accident forced the closure of both lanes of the highway that connects Ciudad Guzmán with Zapotiltic, which affected vehicular traffic in the area. As a preventive measure, the authorities implemented a detour towards the municipality of Tuxpan to avoid further complications.

Civil Protection teams, both state and municipal, are working at the site to remove the affected cars and free the railway line. The work also includes the evaluation of damage to the train and track infrastructure, to avoid additional risks.

Motorists were recommended to use alternative routes and stay informed through official channels to find out the status of repairs and the reopening of the road.
