Since the early hours of yesterday, the cowbells used by workers who collect garbage in the streets of Guadalajara began to be heard, and The waste bags that had been abandoned on public roads for several days were finally lifted, while the neighbors also delivered their waste to the collection truck.

“(The service was) better. I hope it is better and more efficient, that they collect everything. Others sometimes passed by and didn’t pick up, now they take everything,” said Paulino Andrade, a resident of the Santa Elena de la Cruz neighborhood.

Yesterday morning, municipal president Vero Delgadillo gave the starting signal for the operation of the new garbage collection trucks with which the “Clean Guadalajara” strategy began, thereby The public service passed back into the hands of the municipality after 30 years of being concessioned to the company Aabsa Eagle.

The strategy shows that only On the first day, 2,400 tons of waste were collected, while in previous days the municipality accused the Caabsa Eagle company of leaving up to 200 tons daily on the streets.

“It got better because Caabsa had not been here since Saturday and there were mountains of garbage on the corners. Today it happened early and we saw improvement in our neighborhood,” says Sandra López, president of Miravalle residents.

Antonio González, president of the residents of the Vallarta San Jorge neighborhood, indicated that the trucks arrived early to take away the garbage, although he recognizes that the inhabitants of the municipality must do their part to prevent the accumulation of garbage in the streets.

The good mood even spread to the collection workers: Luis Cabrera, a unit operator, said he was happy with the change: “Very good, the trucks are very comfortable, the people are happy and we are even more so because we kept our jobs. I have been working for four years.”
