More than 800 kg of oysters and salmon seized by the gendarmerie in the Var

The fishing has been good. Friday, December 13, the Var gendarmerie made a major seizure: more than 800 kg of contraband oysters and salmon, intended for sale on the markets.

This is reported by BFM Toulon Var, which specifies that the products were discovered in the back of a truck from La Rochelle checked at the Bandol toll booth. This seizure was made after several weeks of investigations.

Products will be destroyed

The origin of these undeclared products was untraceable, and they were transported without respecting hygiene and conservation measures. Oysters and salmon will soon be destroyed.

“There was a problem of being able to find the sellers and the goods and it was not easy, knowing that it was based on an ordinary check which alerted us. After investigations, we discovered the pot aux roses and the extent of the traffic organized between the harvest of oysters, transport, storage and sale”, details the chief quartermaster Ronan of the coastal surveillance brigade of the Toulon maritime gendarmerie with BFM.

Pending the continuation of the investigation into 14 charges, the driver was released.
