When a user types in the search bar, WhatsApp will display the user’s chat results and ask questions that can be asked to Meta AI.
WhatsApp said that the content of private chats will still be stored on the device.
“Meta doesn’t relate what you type back to yourself, unless you send a command to Meta AI,” WhatsApp said.
By default, topics suggested by Meta AI are generated automatically and are not based on the user’s personal information.
With Meta AI, users can continue to use the search function in WhatsApp such as to search for messages, photos, videos, links, GIFs, audio, polls and documents in chats from the search bar.
“Choosing to interact with Meta AI does not affect your private messaging experience on WhatsApp,” said WhatsApp.
