The National Autonomous University of Mexico received notification from the Fifth Federal Collegiate Court on Administrative Matters to cease or render void any act, investigation or procedure that violates the rights of the minister. of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, Yasmín Esquivel Mossa.
With this, UNAM must stop any procedure it was carrying out to determine the authorship of the professional thesis of Esquivel Mossa, who is accused of plagiarizing a thesis by student Édgar Ulises Báez carried out in 1986.
Through a statement on her
“It is proven that there was never any plagiarism of the Bachelor’s thesis that former student Yasmín Esquivel presented almost 40 years ago, and it was a political attack to disqualify her in the race for the presidency of the SCJN,” states the text of her team of lawyers.
However, the Fifth Court’s resolution does not affirm or declare that Esquivel Move He did not plagiarize his thesis.
For its part, The Maximum House of Studies indicated that it will abide by the court’s resolution in its terms, but highlighted that the judicial ruling constitutes a flagrant and inadmissible interference with university autonomy and legislation.
The UNAM highlighted that establishing prohibitions on the actions of university bodies, such as the University Ethics Committee (CUETICA), from spaces outside the academy, represents an attack on freedom of expression and the right to know of the university community and the society in general.
