Instagram Boss Reminds Users to Always Check Sources before Trusting Internet Uploads

Liputan6.com, Jakarta Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri reminded users not to immediately believe images uploaded on social media. Mosseri, through a series of posts on Threads, said that it is possible that the images uploaded on social media were created by AI.

Sometimes, images created by AI, aka artificial intelligence, look very real and mislead people who see them.

Quoting The VergeMonday (16/12/2024), Mosseri also reminded users to always check and explore the source of the image before believing the veracity of an upload.

“Our role on internet platforms is to label content created by AI, as best as we can,” Mosseri said in his post.

But he acknowledged that some content might escape the label.

Therefore, platforms must provide context about who shared the upload. That way, users can determine how trustworthy the content they share is.

That said, checking whether a claim or image uploaded is from a reputable account can help users consider its veracity.

For your information, currently the Meta platforms, including Instagram, do not offer as much context as what Mosseri uploaded.

Even so, the company under Meta recently signaled that there would be major changes to its content rules.

Later, users can interact with influencers and celebrities directly from Instagram, not from other or separate applications.
