The Plenary Session of the City Council Zapopan approved the Budget of Expenses for fiscal year 2025 for a total of 12 thousand 392 million 233 thousand 204 pesos, which represents an increase of 7.34% compared to the 2024 budget, which exceeds 11,500 million pesos. This new assignment will focus on various key areas for the development and well-being of the municipality.
One of the items that stands out the most in the approved budget is investment in public works, which registered an increase of 24% compared to the previous year’s budget, with a total of 1,665 million pesos. Most of these resources, 1,500 million pesos will be allocated exclusively to carrying out public works, being one of the priority objectives of the municipal administration. The plan is to invest a total of five billion pesos in infrastructure projects during the three years of Government.
In terms of security, 1,337 million pesos will be allocated to strengthen the Municipal Police Station. This amount will be used to hire more elements, train personnel and acquire new equipment. Besides, 197 million pesos will be allocated for the purchase of patrols and technology that improves security conditions in the municipality.
The health area also receives strong support with an allocation of 900 million pesos, the highest budget in this sector for the municipality. Among the key projects in this area, the completion of the Hospitalito Sur and the renovation of the Hospitalito in the southern area of Zapopan are contemplated, in addition to the construction of new health centers, such as the Mental Health Center and the Comprehensive Care Center. The latter will also focus on addiction prevention.
The sports area will benefit with 320 million pesos, which will be managed by the Municipal Sports Council. This amount will be used to improve sports spaces, organize events and support local athletes through scholarships. With this, we seek to continue promoting physical activity and sport as tools for well-being and social cohesion.
Another of the priority items of the approved budget is support for entrepreneurship and gender equality. Through various programs, resources, training and support will be provided to local entrepreneurs, seeking to encourage the creation of new companies and the generation of jobs. In addition, resources will be allocated to implement strategies that address gender violence.
Frangie commemorates Criminalist’s Day
The Zapopan Public Security Police Station has become the first municipal corporation to have its own Police Unit with Prosecution Capabilities (Cóndor), whose objective is to process crime scenes and findings of criminal acts. This announcement was made by the Municipal President, Juan José Frangie Saade, during the Criminalist’s Day celebrations.
“This unit is a source of pride for the Police Station and the entire City Council. It is made up of elements trained to work in a coordinated manner with the Public Ministry and the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences,” highlighted Frangie Saade.
Over the years, the Police Station has worked to ensure that its elements have the necessary training to properly preserve and process crime scenes.
