After the approval of the reform to the Federal Labor Law (LFT) on work on digital platforms, the association Alliance In Mexicowhich groups companies such as DiDi, Rappi and Uberrequested the Government of Mexico to establish working groups to guarantee adequate implementation of the regulations.
The association highlighted that the reform represents a significant advance towards social security for those who generate income through digital platforms. However, he warned that its success will depend on the secondary provisions issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. (STPS)the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP)through the SAT.
In a statement, Alianza In México reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating constructively with the authorities to achieve an implementation that benefits both delivery people and drivers as well as digital platforms.
“As they have repeatedly stated, digital platforms for the intermediation of mobility and delivery services share and support the objective set by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, aimed at providing access to social security to those who provide services using digital platforms”says the statement.

Yesterday, the Senate plenary session approved with 113 votes the reform that seeks to establish a special labor regime for around 700 thousand people workers who are employed on digital platforms such as Didi and Uber.
Likewise, the Federal Executive was assigned to publish it in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), which establishes that the employment relationship between the employer and the employee working on digital platforms will be regulated by a contract authorized by the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration.
Finally, Alianza in Mexico recognized the public commitment made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security during its participation in both Chambers of Congress, where Marath Baruch Bolaños reiterated that the current tax regime for digital platforms will be preserved: “The objective is that there is no greater tax burden, that is being protected and is part of the commitments that were assumed”said.
