The plenary session of the Senate approved with 68 votes in favor and 29 against reforms to the Law of the Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers (Infonavit) and the Federal Labor Law on housing with a social focus and with powers to build houses of social interest.
The reform sent by President Claudia Sheinbaum, in addition to laying the foundations so that Infonavit can build housing and offer rental schemes to its members, would also modify the weight that would be had in the organization’s decision making, with the disappearance of the sectoral directorates of Workers and Business, and the Government would have greater decision-making power.
These changes are intended to regulate the organization, administration, operation, development, control, surveillance and accountability of Infonavit.
