Instagram Introduces Trial Reels Feature: Creators Can Experiment with Content More Freely

For your information, Instagram is again making a new breakthrough by updating the feature in Direct Messages (DM). Now, users can share live location (share live location) with your friends.

This feature is very suitable for meeting friends in crowded places such as concerts or large events. Apart from that, you can also add or change nicknames for your own or friends’ accounts in private or group chats.

Apart from that, there are now more than 300 new stickers that you can use in DMs.

Live Location Feature

Quoting EngadgetTuesday (26/11/2024), this location sharing feature can be activated for up to one hour. But don’t worry, your location will only be visible to people in your Instagram DMs. This location cannot be passed on to other people outside the chat.

If this feature is activated, you will see the “You are sharing your location” indicator at the top of the chat thread. You can also stop location sharing at any time manually.

Add Nickname

With this feature, users can give names to themselves or friends in DM. For example, create a funny name from an inside joke or simplify a friend’s username that is too long so it’s easier to recognize.

The nickname only appears in DMs, so it won’t be visible anywhere else on Instagram. You are also free to change your nickname at any time and can determine who in the group can change your nickname.

How: open the chat name at the top, select Nicknames, then enter the desired name.

300 More New Stickers

Instagram is also adding 17 new sticker packs for DMs, so there are currently over 300 stickers for you to choose from. You can also make your favorite stickers more accessible, including those shared by friends.
