Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Google has again released their annual report on various things that are trending and attracting the attention of the Indonesian people during 2024.
Through the “Year in Search 2024” and “Year in YouTube” reports, the search engine giant provides an interesting picture of what interests the public.
This year is an extraordinary moment because of the collaboration of the three platforms, namely Google Play, Google Search, and YouTube in celebrating the achievements of these three platforms.
“These three platforms are data sources that provide deep insight into the interests and preferences of the Indonesian people,” said Feliciana Wienathan, Communications Manager for Google Indonesia in Jakarta, Thursday (12/12/2024).
One of the most obvious trends in Google Search is the increasing public interest in local content.
“One of the most obvious is people’s love for local content. There is a clear shift in the film category, where Indonesian film titles dominate the search list,” said Feliciana.
A similar trend can also be seen in music searches. Apart from searching for popular songs, many people also search for song lyrics on Google.
“One thing that stands out is the work of Mahalini, where not only one, but several of her songs are on the popular search list.”
Apart from that, this year Google Search is also a witness to the curiosity of Indonesian people. Searches such as “What is abstention” and “Why did Indonesia qualify for the Asian Cup?” reflects an interest in social issues and sports.
Interestingly, many people in Indonesia search with the keywords “Whose cat is Bobby Kertanegara”, “What does khodam mean”, and “Why do we feel sick.”
On the other hand, pop culture also dominates with search trends related to terms such as “red flag” and “mewing”.
