Two weeks of imagining the worst. And then deliverance. This Tuesday, the gendarmerie announced that they had found Morgane Rivoal, missing since leaving the family home on November 25 in Pabu, near Guingamp. “Safe and sound”, the 13-year-old girl was in Coutances (Manche), in a home for young workers located more than 200 km from the house where she lives with her parents, her brother and her sister. A 21-year-old man from Rennes was taken into police custody.
Since the announcement of the disappearance of the teenager two weeks ago, the gendarmerie have deployed very significant resources to find her. In total, more than 1,000 people were questioned, the national gendarmerie said on Tuesday. A group of 70 gendarmes was mobilized, including a group of 22 investigators. Helicopters, drones, divers and dogs were mobilized to carry out the search. Citizen raids bringing together hundreds of people were organized around the schoolgirl’s family home.
A 21-year-old man remains in police custody. He was sheltering the teenager. He was placed in police custody for kidnapping and sequestration of a minor under the age of fifteen, the prosecutor said. “Morgane is doing well physically” and has not yet given an explanation for her disappearance, said a source close to the case, without being able to give any indication of the psychological state of the schoolgirl.
The public prosecutor of Saint-Brieuc, who will speak at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, announced that the teenager would be quickly examined by a doctor and be heard by investigators.
