December becomes a month of anniversaries in our country, from the religious celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe, on December 12, to Christmas, whose celebration focuses on the birth of the Child Jesus. Both dates harbor a meaning of faith and religion, representative of our culture.

Apparition of the Virgin to Juan Diego on the Tepeyac hill
Although it is not known for certain, the Catholic religion estimates that between December 9 and 12, 1531, The indigenous Juan Diego, baptized in the Catholic faith, witnessed the appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe on the Tepeyac hill. According to the history of the Catholic faith, Juan Diego was on the Tepeyac hill when he heard a strange call. When investigating what it was about, he met the Virgin of Guadalupe, who asked him to announce his presence to Bishop Juan de Zumárraga, so that he would have a temple built in his honor.
According to the Catholic Church, the man complied with the order, but the religious man ignored it.
On December 12, the Virgin appeared again to Juan Diego. This time, he promised to give him proof to present to the bishop: He asked her to pick up some roses that were on the road and carry them in her tilma. When he arrived with the priest, he dropped them and the sacred image was revealed on the mantle.

Death of Jenny Rivera
Jenni Rivera was one of the most important artists of the regional Mexican genre, winner of multiple awards, including 6 Billboard Awards and recognitions at the Lo Nuestro Awards and the Latin Grammys.
Her music broke barriers by addressing topics such as female empowerment and personal struggle, making her an icon for millions of fans. On December 9, 2012, Jenni Rivera boarded a plane after a successful concert at the Arena Monterrey, bound for Toluca, where he planned to continue with his commitments, including his role as a coach on the program La Voz México. Unfortunately, the plane suffered an accident, and neither she nor her work team survived.
12 years after her departure, Jenni Rivera continues to be remembered by her fans as a transcendental figure in Mexican music and a symbol of strength. Tequila is granted the certificate of origin
Tequila is declared proudly Mexican. Grupo Carso, owned by businessman Carlos Slim, assumes control of Telmex
On December 9, 1990, Grupo Carso, together with key partners, achieved the privatization of telephones in Mexico, which would later call itself what it is today: TELMEX. Prior to the privatization of Telefonos de México (Telmex), This company operated with electromechanical, analog and obsolete equipment for operation, transportation, external plant and maintenance, as well as with manual records and a 360-kilometer fiber optic network.
After the privatization of Mexico’s telephones in 1990, The company has innovated and currently has a fiber optic network of more than 194,322 kilometers installed throughout the country.

International day against corruption
On October 31, 2003, the United Nations General Assembly declared December 9 as International Anti-Corruption Day.
From that day on, the United Nations Convention against Corruption has the mission of:
- Promote and strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption more effectively and efficiently;
- Promote, facilitate and support international cooperation and technical assistance in preventing and combating corruption, including asset recovery.
- Promote integrity, accountability and proper management of public affairs and assets.
