Internet users clearly do not lack imagination to invent ever more idiotic, and above all more dangerous, challenges. The latest, the “Superman Dance”, which has been circulating for several weeks on TikTok and in schoolyards all over France.
The principle of this challenge is simple, it consists of imitating the famous superhero in mid-flight, on the title Watch Me by rapper Silento. To take on this challenge, there must be at least three people. Two people are face to face and extend their arms while holding each other, and a third mimes Superman, fist clenched while jumping and launching into the void. She is then propelled into the air, more or less high, and must land on her feet, where she was initially.
A very dangerous challenge
A musical challenge that obviously appeals a lot to young people since the videos of this trend sometimes record more than ten million views on TikTok. But as with many challenges, it is not without danger, quite the contrary.
Indeed, when the person is thrown into the air, they can land poorly on their legs or hit an obstacle and fall, as we can see in many videos. And sometimes, people who rush are simply not caught and crash to the ground, possibly getting very hurt.
In Belgium, in a municipal school in Antwerp, a student was not received by his classmates and fell on his head. He was hospitalized following “serious injuries”, indicated the Belgian daily Le Soir.
Banned in several middle and high schools
According to actu.fr, certain middle and high schools in the Manche department have already communicated to ban this practice within their establishment, and parents of students have been alerted to make them aware of the risks involved. In Marseille in Bouches-du-Rhône, several establishments have also banned this challenge, indicates France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
The risk of injury is such that TikTok has decided to display a warning message on many falling videos, stating that the post “may be inappropriate for some audiences.”
