This Saturday, December 7, De la Fuente met in New York with Esteban Moctezuma, Mexican ambassador to the United States, and with Héctor Vasconcelos, Mexico’s representative to the UN, as well as six consuls from the northeastern United States.
With them, the chancellor outlined the priorities and responsibilities of the consulates “to generate trust between the Mexican community and the Government of Mexico, in the face of present and future challenges.”
“There is currently no other priority in Mexico’s foreign policy than our nationals”said the head of the SRE.
He reiterated the instruction to the consular team to have a rapid and effective response capacity in the protection and defense of Mexican men and women.
As part of the strategy instructed by President Sheinbaum, asked the consuls to visit detention centers more and remain in permanent contact with the immigration authorities to monitor compliance with respect for human rights.

Juan Ramón de la Fuente called to continue strengthening and building community alliances with social and civil organizations.
“You have to go out and look for them, you have to go out and see them. These are not office times, they are times to go out and do community work with these alliances, weave them and have them ready, convince them of the need we have to work together,” he said.
