► 9:05 a.m. – Program: start of mass at 10:30 a.m.
The mass begins at 10:30 a.m. At the invitation of Mgr Laurent Ulrich, Archbishop of Paris, nearly 1,00 bishops from France and around the world are participating in this celebration, as well as a priest from each of the 106 parishes of the diocese of Paris, and a priest from each of the seven Eastern Rite Catholic churches.
The ceremony will take place in six stages: the entrance procession, the rite of sprinkling with holy water, the liturgy of the Word and the homily of Mgr Ulrich, the rites of dedication, the celebration of Mass and communion, and the blessing of the tabernacle.
► 9:00 a.m. – Feast of the Immaculate Conception
In the Catholic Church, December 8 is an important Marian feast, that of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. However, when this holiday falls on a Sunday, as is the case this year, its celebration is postponed to the next day.
The texts that will be read today will therefore be those of the second Sunday of Advent, the preparatory period for Christmas.
