Soon we can kick off winter with Tyler Perry’s impressive new film, The Six Triple Eight (2024)based on a true story. The film is already being hailed as his best work to date, featuring a powerful performance by Kerry Washington and a compelling story about the courage of 855 African-American women who made history during World War II.
An important task
The Six Triple Eight tells the story of 855 African-American women who played an important role during the Second World War in the contact between American soldiers at the front in Europe and their families who were helplessly waiting for them in the United States. These women who were part of the Women’s Army Corps had to deal not only with discrimination from their fellow citizens but, when deployed abroad, also with the threat of German attack.

The lead roles are played by Washington, Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sam Waterson, Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon.
The first reactions
This clumsy attempt at a war movie ultimately becomes more about what they endured than what they achieved.
The compelling true story marks an important step forward for Perry, enhanced by the participation of Susan Sarandon and Oprah Winfrey, who appear in small but important roles.
The Six Triple Eight is from 20 december available on Netflix.
