President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated her position against regulating the use of vapers in Mexicoensuring that the reform currently being discussed in Congress will be approved and that experts from the ISSSTE and of IMSS will expose the damage that these products generate on health.

During his conference this Friday, Sheinbaum pointed out that there has been a lot of talk these days about the topic of vapers. “We are going to ask the IMSS Bienestar team and Dr. David Kershenobich to report on the damage caused by vaping devices.”he declared.
The president also indicated that Cigarette companies have pressured to prevent the approval of the reformHowever, he assured that this will be endorsed because it is essential for protect the health of Mexicans.
The reform, which It will be voted on next week in the Senatein addition to the ban on vapers, is also against fentanyl illegal, whose production and distribution are indicated as security problems in Mexico and in neighboring countries such as the United States.
Last Tuesday, The Chamber of Deputies approved with 410 votes in favor and 24 against the constitutional ban on vaping devices, electronic cigarettes and the illicit use of fentanyl, as well as other synthetic drugs and unauthorized chemical precursors. This reform modifies articles 4 and 5 of the Constitution to restrict its manufacture, distribution and sale.
Previously, the joint committees of the Senate had already approved the opinion in general and in particular, so now will go to Plenary for final vote next week and it is expected to be in favor.
