The dinosaur survival horror “Unknown Tapes” (tentative translation, Unknown Video Tapes) produced and published by independent game studio Travi Team Games was released on Steam yesterday (4th). It supports Simplified Chinese interface and subtitles. It was developed through UE5. The protagonist must be in Adventure and survive in the dinosaur-occupied suburbs.
“Unknown Tapes” is said to be inspired by “Dino Crisis” and “Death Asylum”, and the gameplay is mainly a walking simulator combined with stealth exploration.
Through the first-person perspective of “mock documentary” narrative (found footage), the player is hunted by dinosaurs in the middle of the night when they can barely see their hands.
It is said that the game lasts for 2 to 3 hours. “Unknown Tapes” does not allow players to fight these large reptiles. Just like a normal horror game, you must hide your breath and keep quiet to avoid attracting the attention of dinosaurs.
Buildings may be destroyed by large dinosaurs, and indoors are not a safe refuge. Sometimes you have to use your wits to escape the pursuit.
The game has a real-time voice detection function. When the player shouts or speaks using the microphone, the dinosaur will instantly perceive the sound and make actions.
The development team stated that they used the most advanced photogrammetry software to bring real-world objects and environments directly into the game, including narrow walkways among wheat fields, suburban streets, red-lit cellars, heavily guarded laboratories, and huge sewers. Pipelines… These scenes all exist in reality, but their absence exudes a thrilling atmosphere.
In addition to photogrammetry, UE5 visual effects combined with realistic camera movements allow players to be immersed in the scene. Some scenes may even cause claustrophobia.
