On the other hand, good news for Apple fans in Indonesia! After experiencing a sales ban, the iPhone 16 series will most likely be officially available in Indonesia soon.
This happened after Apple and the Indonesian government found a bright spot regarding the sales policy for the iPhone 16 series.
The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said that Apple would take a big step by investing in Indonesia.
“God willing, they (Apple) will take the first scheme, namely investment in production facilities or factories in Indonesia,” said Minister of Industry Agus when met at Liputan6.com in Surabaya, Thursday (5/12/2024).
Apple has committed to investing around USD 1 billion or the equivalent of IDR 16 trillion. Intensive discussions between this Cupertino-based technology company and the Ministry of Investment continue to ensure that investment realization is realized and runs smoothly.
“We discussed the best scheme so that Apple can realize this investment. Technically, there will be further discussions about which industrial area is suitable for Apple’s factory later,” added Agus.
Currently, the Indonesian government is committed to helping Apple realize this investment. In this way, it is hoped that this sense of technology can grow better in Indonesia through the presence of production facilities or local factories.
“Until now, Apple is still using the third scheme, namely innovation. However, their commitment to switching to the first scheme–hardware–is a big step,” continued Agus.
This news is certainly not only good news for Apple fanboys in Indonesia, but also has a positive impact on the local technology industry.
It is hoped that this investment can create jobs, accelerate technology adoption, and encourage Indonesia to become a center for world-class electronic device products.
If it goes smoothly and according to plan, the launch of the iPhone 16 series in Indonesia will not only be a celebration for Apple fans, but also a major achievement for the domestic economy and technology industry.
