Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Cellular operators in Indonesia support the government’s efforts to eradicate online gambling transactions through restrictions on credit transfers.
Previously, the Minister of Communications and Digital met with cellular operator bosses at the Komdigi office and asked operators to limit the number of credit transfers to eradicate online gambling transactions.
SVP Head of Corporate Communications Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Steve Saerang said that his party supports the government’s efforts to eradicate online gambling practices in order to protect the Indonesian people.
“Regarding plans for regulations to limit credit transfers, which target potentially illegal activities, we support and hope that these regulations will effectively prevent online gambling activities,” said Steve in a statement received by Tekno Liputan6.com, Thursday (5/12/2024).
Even so, Indosat hopes that the government will continue to consider the economy for business actors who sell credit so that it is maintained.
Steve said, through this policy, Indosat will continue to provide impressive experiences in meeting its customers’ digital needs.
Meanwhile, operator XL Axiata said in a statement that it was still studying the policy regarding credit transfer restrictions. However, XL Axiata supports the government’s efforts to limit online gambling.
“In principle, we really support the eradication of online gambling (judol) in the most appropriate way,” said an XL Axiata representative.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Indonesian Telecommunications Providers Association, Marwan O Baasir, in a brief statement said that ATSI supports Kominfo’s efforts to handle online gambling in accordance with applicable regulations.
