This Wednesday, December 4, the Department of State of USA announced an increase of up to $15 million in the reward offer for information leading to the arrest of the Mexican drug trafficker Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes“El Mencho”.
Oseguera Cervantes is the co-founder and current leader of the Nueva Generación Cartel. (CNG), “a violent drug cartel in Mexico responsible for trafficking fentanyl and other illicit drugs to the United States,” the State Department noted in a statement.
Since 2017, Oseguera Cervantes has been accused several times in the US of drug trafficking, the last in April 2022, when he was accused of “engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl for importation into the United States and use of a firearm during and in relation to crimes of drug trafficking“.
The United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is also seeking clues about other CNG leaders, Audias Flores-Silva and Juan Carlos Valencia González, and both have a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to their arrest.
“All identities (of the informants) are kept strictly confidential,” the statement notes.
“El Mencho”, one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico and the United States, leads one of the most violent cartels on Mexican soil.
The DEA Until now, it offered a reward of 10 million dollars for information leading to the capture of “Mencho”, while the Mexican authorities offer 30 million pesos.
The CNG operates in at least 24 of the 32 Mexican states and distributes large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and fentanyl in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Atlanta (USA).
