This has made us think about various methods or create plans to improve said economy. For that reason today We share with you one of the ideas that experts have shared in quest to combat economic inequality in Latin America.
This is how experts met on Tuesday in Lima, Peru, at a conference organized by the Latin American Network for Economic and Social Justice (Latindadd) where they mentioned that, Inequality can be reduced by taxing (taxing) wealth, suppressing the illegal economy, and renegotiating international debt.
The event, which is celebrated under the motto of “Economic, social and climate justice for Latin America in a world on the brink of war”seeks to address the pending problems and agendas facing the region in the context of global tensions, such as the growing rivalry between China and the United States.

In this regard, the general coordinator of Latindadd in Peru, Carlos Bedoyahighlighted the complexity of the current situation, marked by that economic disputeand considered that the organizations affiliated with the network “must articulate a programmatic agenda with authorities and social movements to promote the well-being of the people.”
In turn, the co-president of Latindadd in Brazil, Nathalie Beghinstressed the importance of reforming taxation in the region, since he considered that if illicit financial flows are combated, debts are renegotiated and multinationals are appropriately taxed, Sufficient public resources can be generated to meet social needs.
For her part, the coordinator of the New Financial Architecture area of Latindadd, Patricia Mirandaof Boliviastressed that Latin America’s dependence on the production of raw materials contributes to the indebtedness and that “there is a overvaluation of the private sector in development, which affects the public sector and the population”.
The area coordinator Tax Justice from Latindadd, Adrian Falcostressed the need for training, participation and reform of the tax system, the importance of training political cadres to discuss with civil society and that, without a tax reform, the resources will not arrive and will force constant indebtedness.
Finally, the coordinator of the area of Climate Justice from Latindadd, Carola Mejiareferred to the climate debt of the countries that manage climate financing, which, he said, do not assume their responsibility and divert funds towards subsidies for fossil fuels, extractive industries and wars.
On Monday, during the first day of the meeting, the economist Oscar Ugartecheresearcher of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), argued that Trade competition between China and the United States is redefining the world order, with significant implications for the economy, technology and global politics.

In addition to analyzing the threats facing the world, such as climate change and the possibility of a nuclear conflict, the advance of far-right movements was also discussed and it was pointed out that illegal economies, which include drug trafficking and illegal mining , currently affect 16 countries in the region.
Latindadd reported that this conference seeks to be a meeting space for civil organizations “that promote an economy that takes care of people and combats inequality” and that works to “find new forms of taxation and fight against debts illegitimate, with the aim of building more autonomous and fair societies” in Latin America.
