Claudia Sheinbaum: Mexico distances itself from Canada due to tariffs


The threat of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trumpimposing tariffs on its neighbors not only generated concern in Mexico and Canada but has created divisions between these two countriesespecially after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that their relations with the United States were not comparable.

“We are not going to fall into a provocation about which country is better; What is certain is that Mexico is respected, and even more so, by our trade partners,” said President Claudia Sheinbaum.

He also said he plans to meet with Trump “soon,” although no date has yet been set.

Trudeau had dinner last Friday with the Republican in Florida where he explained that Canada is not Mexico and complained that the Republican equates its borders with both countries in terms of the influx of drugs and migrants to the United States.
