The Guadalajara City Council and the concessionaire company Aabsa Eagle They have faced the challenges in terms of garbage collection, ensuring that this public service is perceived as “efficient” among the people of Guadalajara.
According to the most recent survey “Citizen Perception Study: Evaluation of Public Services in Guadalajara”presented by the agency “Alternativa Consultores”, 67.73% of the participants assure that the garbage collection service is reliable.
“I like that in my neighborhood we know what day it is going to happen… and more or less at what time, so we can go to the market or run errands without worrying about having to wait for them,” says Mrs. Sara, from Colonia Jardines Alcalde.
“What I like about the garbage service is that they take everything away. I had lived in other places and, sometimes because of the rush, they didn’t take everything, but here they pass at a good pace and take all our bags,” says Felipe, from Colonia Polanco.
Based on the survey, it was possible to improve the rating presented in past years. In general, on a scale of 1 to 10, the people surveyed give an average rating of 7.28 to the satisfaction of garbage collection in Guadalajara. This rating exceeds the 7 reported in the “Municipal Services Evaluation” survey undertaken by Ice Research in 2023.
To the question of “whether the garbage collection schedules and days are met in the neighborhood,” 71.35% of those surveyed responded that they are always or almost always met. Guadalupe is one of the people from Guadalajara who says she is happy with this service. He has a house whose rooms are rented to students in the Colonia Jardines Alcalde, which is why garbage is generated every day.
“The garbage passes almost daily, even on Saturdays; In fact, the boys even get upset because the pickers’ bells wake them up. But it’s better this way, because I can’t imagine what would happen to the house if they didn’t pass by as usual, all my bags would get together.”
The friendliness of the collectors is accentuated, as sometimes she is not able to get all the bags out to the street on time, but the workers wait for her. “Sometimes they have even helped me take them out, they are very kind.”
This is what Celia, a resident of Colonia Miraflores, agrees with, explaining that she has known her collectors for several years, who are very cordial when receiving their garbage. “With that kindness, one is happy to give them their tip with great pleasure.”
In fact, the survey confirms that 95% of the people surveyed highlight the kindness and respect of the people in charge of collecting garbage in their neighborhoods.
