In the middle of Black Friday, a shooting broke out Friday afternoon in Little Rock (Arkansas) in the Park Plaza Mall shopping center, leaving three people injured, according to the police department cited by the local NBC antenna. Authorities received a call reporting an active assailant at 1:45 p.m. The victims’ injuries are not life-threatening, and investigators have not yet identified a suspect.
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. condemned gun violence. “The reckless, senseless and criminal actions of two individuals today put the lives and safety of residents and visitors in jeopardy. We pray for the victims of this incident and hope for a full recovery,” he said in a statement.
The center closed for the day
The mayor also thanked law enforcement, first responders, and shopping center staff for their responsiveness. “We are grateful to everyone who acted quickly to ensure safety and protect others,” he wrote.
The Park Plaza Mall has announced that it will be closed for the remainder of the day. “Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, as well as their loved ones. The safety and well-being of our visitors and the community remains our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation,” center officials said in a statement.
