Screenwriter Richard Curtis would like to join the cast Notting Hill (1999) reunite for a small sequel, but unfortunately it doesn’t work out. Curtis is said to be toying with the idea of divorcing William Thacker and Anna Scott. Julia Roberts would have thought this was a very bad plan and therefore could not be caught.
Parting
Curtis has successfully cast the cast of Love Actually (2003) managed to gather for the reunion Red Nose Day Actually (2017)almost 15 years later. He did this in support of the annual Red Nose Day fundraiser. In a recent interview, the screenwriter says that he had such a plan for Notting Hillbut that Roberts rejected the idea when she heard her character would be divorcing from Grant’s character.
A horrible character
Grant also doesn’t seem particularly eager to return for one Notting Hillreunion, but his reasons differ from Roberts’.
When I’m at home zapping on the couch Notting Hill I always think: ‘Why doesn’t my character have any balls?’ There’s a scene where the paparazzi are at my door while Anna is in my house. My character has her open the door. I’ve never had a girlfriend, or now a wife, who didn’t say, ‘Why didn’t you stop her? What’s wrong with you?’ I don’t actually have an answer to that. I think William is really horrible.
