After this media outlet announced the deficit faced by public transportation in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, which already affects the frequencies of various routes, and in turn the users, the elected governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus, stated that a scheme will be sought to attract and maintain drivers, in order to consolidate the “Business Route” project in the Entity, as one of the priority issues of its management.
“The truth is that we do need to improve the income of public transport operators, because if there are not better working conditions, we will not be able to fill the vacant spaces,” said Lemus Navarro.
Yesterday this media announced that, according to the estimates of the CTM transport union in Jalisco, There are around 1,600 vacancies for public transport drivers that have not been able to be filled, and as a result, the existing ones have seen the need to double, or even triple, shifts to cover the demand for the service. which goes against the ideology of the “Business Route” that the outgoing administration should have consolidated.
In this regard, Lemus Navarro indicated that, as public transportation is one of the priority issues of attention in his administration, and not only to agree on improvements for drivers, but to consolidate the “Business-Route”, he will soon discuss with transport businessmen in order to reach the best ways to achieve it.
Also, he said, subsidies will be maintained to continue with the renovation of obsolete public transport units that still circulate in the city, but focusing mainly on electromobility.
This, he said, not only within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, but also in different metropolitan areas of the Entity.
“One of the public transportation systems that will receive a subsidy will be that of the Ciénega Region, to create a metropolitan transportation system between Ocotlán, La Barca, Poncitlán and Jamay. “These 4 municipalities are going to be united with this new public transportation system.”he stated.
Another of the municipalities where electromobility will be invested will be in Puerto Vallarta, to renew the transportation system which runs along Francisco Medina Ascensio Avenue, from the border with Nayarit to the historic center of Puerto Vallarta, just as they run towards the bypass.
“Everything is replaced by electromobility. And they will all have air conditioning, because what we want is quality, also in public transportation, for the workers, but that is also seen with a tourist intention so that those who visit us can go by public transportation,” indicated the governor-elect.
Electromobility, he noted, will also be seen in the new Line 5 of the Light Train that will seek to connect from the Ixtlahuacán area of Los Membrillos, El Salto and the surroundings of the Guadalajara International Airport.
