A thief who tried to get his hands on the cash register of a French bakery before leaving with a single chocolatine as meager loot would still have received eight months in prison on Monday.
On Monday, around 6 p.m., the robber, aged in his forties, appeared at a bakery in Bannalec, in Finistère, a department in the west of France, to order a chocolatine from the saleswoman, France Bleu reported on Thursday.
Except that when paying for his pastries, the man allegedly drew a handgun and demanded the contents of his cash register from the shopkeeper.
Unfortunately for him, the clerk, “determined not to give in anything”, did not allow herself to be impressed by her behavior, so much so that the man ended up fleeing, however taking his pain au chocolat along the way, reportedly indicated the gendarmes to the local media.
The next morning, they managed to get their hands on the forty-year-old, who would have been tried immediately for his crime, according to France Bleu.
The thief would have been sentenced to eight months behind bars, plus an additional four months for breaking the conditions of a previous suspended sentence, it says.
He will also have to pay damages to the baker, but the amount was not specified by the French media.
