Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Artificial intelligence technology or familiarly called AI is increasingly becoming the main catalyst in digital transformation in various sectors, including broadcasting and the creative economy.
In a seminar entitled “Indonesia’s Digital Transformation Towards the Great Vision of Golden Indonesia 2045”, various opportunities and challenges for AI in Indonesia were discussed in depth by industry experts and practitioners, Thursday (28/11/2024).
TVRI President Director Iman Brotoseno highlighted how AI helps the world of broadcasting, especially in the process of reconstructing historical content.
“Activities carried out by several influential people in the past, but without documentation, can now be re-illustrated with the help of AI. “TVRI has even used this technology to make documentary videos and re-enactments,” he said.
Nevertheless, Iman also noted the big challenges for Indonesia in understanding and adopting AI technology.
“The understanding of AI technology from foreign countries about Eastern countries is very limited, because the data they have is incomplete.” Iman Brotoseno explained.
Until now, Indonesia still plays a role as a consumer of AI technology developed by developed countries.
AI is now also considered a benchmark for global domination in the world. In this context, Indonesia must be ready to compete amidst the dynamics of the digital economy, which is predicted to experience a slowdown in 20230.
“We cannot reject the progress of the times, AI must be responded to wisely and enjoyed as part of technological progress. “For the creative industry, especially content, this is a big opportunity, even though there are monopoly challenges in large industries,” he added.
This seminar also featured the launch of the book ‘Understanding AI, an Ethics Guide’ by Agus Sudibyo, which discusses the importance of ethics in the development and use of AI technology.
This book is expected to be a guide for society and industry in understanding the ethical side of technological advances, especially artificial intelligence.
Apart from Iman Brotoseno, this event was attended by a number of speakers, including Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria, Head of the Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Alleviation Budiman Sudjatmiko, and Chairman of Kagama AI Ajar Edi.
This discussion underscores the importance of collaboration between government, industry players and society to ensure AI truly becomes a driver of digital transformation towards a Golden Indonesia 2045.
