Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs (Minister of Communication and Digital) Meutya Hafid has officially appointed high-ranking National Police officer Brigadier General Alexander Sabar as Plt. Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communications and Technology.

The appointment of Brigadier General Alexander Sabar was not without reason. Before serving at the Ministry of Communications, he was known to have a track record in law enforcement and cyber surveillance.

Not only that, he is also known to have expertise in the field of investigation and digital forensics. Brigadier General Alexander has also undergone various special training to support his competition.

Some of the training that Brigadier General Alexander Sabar has participated in includes Computer Investigation and Forensics from Interpol United States and the VFC Method Training organized by the Cyber ​​Crimes Investigation Center.

He also attended Computer Investigation and Forensic Training from the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance as well as the 2nd Interpol Train the Trainer Workshop on Computer Forensics for Asia and South Pacific held by Interpol.

With this experience and education, he is considered capable of handling the complexities faced by the Ministry of Communication and Technology, starting from digital crime, including data theft, the spread of illegal content, and online gambling.

“Collaboration between Komdigi and law enforcement agencies is very necessary, especially in critical situations like now to respond to increasingly complex digital threats, especially on the issue of online gambling which is very detrimental to society,” said the Minister of Komdigi in a press release received, Thursday (28/11/ 2024).

This assignment is also an implementation of Presidential Regulation Number 174 of 2024 concerning the Ministry of Communications and Digital.

This reflects changes in ministerial nomenclature in response to the dynamics and challenges in the era of digital transformation. For this reason, a new director general has now been formed to monitor crime in the digital space.

The Minister of Communication and Information hopes that the assignment of Brigadier General Alexander can accelerate efforts to clean up Komdigi, both from the threat of digital crime and increasing public trust in the security of the country’s digital space.
