The Coordinator of the Advisory Council for Economic, Regional Development and Business Relocation, Altagracia Gomez Sierrapresented this Wednesday, November 27 in “La Mañanera del Pueblo” by Claudia Sheinbaum, to its members. He said that the objective will be to promote and “ground” the national strategy relocation of companies, as well as private sector actions to make investments, generate employment and promote regional development.
In the National Palace, Altagracia Gómez Sierra indicated that the Council is made up of 14 businessmen and women – seven women and seven men – of recognized prestige and experience in the national business and economic field and a coordinator who will be invited by the President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Who are the members of the Business Council?
The 14 members of the Advisory Council for Regional Economic Development and Business Relocation, presented by Altagracia Gómez Sierra, are Gina Díez Barroso Azcárragapresident of Diarq Holding; Myriam Guadalupe De la Vegapresident of Almacenes Distribuidors de la Frontera; Blanca Trevino de Vegapresident of Softtek; Maria Elena GallegoGroup President Collectron International Management, Inc; Concepcion Mirandageneral director of Miraplastek; Tamara Caballerothe first woman in the history of the institution to be CEO of Multiva and is the only female general director of a bank in Mexico; Ana María Macíasbusinesswoman and engineer expert in risk analysis with more than 25 years of experience in the hydrocarbon sector. He directs Maja Consulting Group.
Also members of this Council, Rodrigo Herrera Asprafounder of Genomma Lab; Antonio Del Valle Perochenachairman of the board of directors of Kaluz; Jose Chapur Zahoulpresident of The Palace Company; Eduardo Tricio Haropresident of the board of directors of Grupo Lala; Raúl Gutiérrez Muguerzapresident of the board of directors of DEACERO group; Juan Domingo Beckmanngeneral director of José Cuervo; and Armando Garza Sadawho was president of the board of Alfa.
These will be the tasks of the Business Council
Altagracia Gómez Sierra explained in the Treasury Room of the National Palace that among the tasks that this Council will have will be propose an industrial policy to attract investments, propose projects, mixed investment schemes or infrastructure to strengthen industrial corridors and welfare centers.
He pointed out that they will also seek to increase investment and export amounts, double the dual education program, certification and technical careers.
Gómez Sierra explained that the Advisory Council for Economic, Regional Development and Business Relocation will have quarterly meetings headed by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
He noted that there will also be the ministries of Economy (SE), Treasury (SHCP), Sciences, Humanities, Technology and Innovation; Energy (Sener), Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat), Health (Ssa) and the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency.
There will also be four representatives from chambers and associations: Business Coordinating Council, American Chamber Mexico, Global Business Council, and the Association of Banks of Mexico.
He highlighted that there will also be special members, including members of the federal government and academia, such as UNAM, the University of Guadalajara, the Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey; and the National System of Technological Institutes TecNM.
