The tragedy occurred this Tuesday morning around 9 a.m. (6 a.m. in Paris). A father killed his two children aged 7 and 4 before committing suicide in Les Avirons, in the southwest of the island of Reunion, we learned from a source close to the case. The gendarmerie was notified by a woman, who was at her workplace and was worried about worrying messages from her partner, the same source continued.
On site, the gendarmes discovered in a shed the lifeless bodies of the couple’s two young children, as well as that of the father who, according to the first information collected, killed himself.
The mother hospitalized
Very shocked, the mother was hospitalized, the same source added. The motives for this double infanticide are, for the moment, unknown.
The investigations were entrusted to the Saint-Pierre research brigade and the Saint-Denis research section, said the gendarmerie.
